The Johns Hopkins Nonprofit Sector Studies: Civil Society in Global Perspective

Back to Economics, business studies

Editor: Lester Salomon

This series aims to bring greater depth and specificity to the characterization of the global nonprofit sector. Individual titles explore the commonalities and variations in nonprofit organizations' scale, structure, financing, and role in 42 countries. The studies employ a systematic empirical approach using a common definition and set of techniques as a means of testing existing theories of the civil society sector, conceptions of the modern welfare state, and processes of democratization and development.
