Epidemiology and Clinical Medicine

Back to Medicine

This significant new series focuses on the interface between epidemiological research and contemporary clinical practice. It deals with the very real and pressing issues confronted by today's physicians: which of my patients are at risk? how do I identify them? how can these risks be minimised? and how do I weigh up the costs, benefits and risks of therapeutic intervention? Advances at the forefront of medicine are continuously refining and sometimes completely rewriting the answers to these questions. The series will concentrate on those areas of medicine where this quantitative approach has gained most ground in advancing and improving medical practice. The intention therefore is to produce a series of volumes which will eventually encompass the main medical specialities, and to provide clinicians within those disciplines with a rigorous, evidence-based approach to good clinical practice and research.
