L’acquisition des clitiques nominatifs et des clitiques objets en français

Abstract

This article presents and discusses data on nominative and object clitics used by twelve monolingual French-speaking children aged 2;0 to 2;7 years in a spontaneous interaction setting and in an elicited production task. It is shown that nominative clitics surpass object clitics, and that reflexive clitics fare better than accusative clitics. It is argued that these two dissociations are compatible with the computational complexity hypothesis put forth by Jakubowicz and Nash (to appear), applied to the analysis of third person Romance pronominal clitics proposed by Jakubowicz, Nash, Rigaut, and Gérard (1998).

Cet article présente des données sur la production de clitiques nominatifs et de clitiques objets par douze enfants monolingues de langue maternelle française, âgés de 2;0 à 2;7 ans dans une situation d’interaction spontanée et une situation expérimentale de production induite. Les résultats montrent une dissociation entre les clitiques nominatifs et les clitiques objets en faveur des premiers, et une dissociation entre les clitiques réfléchis et les clitiques accusatifs en faveur des réfléchis. Il est argumenté que ces dissociations sont compatibles avec les prédictions de l’hypothèse de la complexité du calcul syntaxique de Jakubowicz et Nash (à paraître), appliquée à l’analyse des clitiques pronominaux de troisième personne des langues romanes proposée par Jakubowicz, Nash, Rigaut et Gérard (1998).
